Award Levels The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at CGS

Bronze Award

  • Eligibility: Students from Class 8 and above.
  • Duration: 6–12 months.
  • Sections:

1.      Voluntary Service / Community Service – Contributing to the community through meaningful activities.

2.      Skills – Developing a personal skill or hobby.

3.      Physical Recreation / Fitness – Engaging in regular physical activity.

4.      Adventurous Journey – Planning and completing a team expedition (2 days 1 night).

  • Objective: Introduce students to new challenges, build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility.

Silver Award

  • Eligibility: Students who have completed Bronze or Class 9 and above.
  • Duration: 12–18 months.
  • Sections:

1.      Voluntary Service / Community Service – A more sustained and impactful contribution.

2.      Skills – Developing or improving a skill to a higher level.

3.      Physical Recreation / Fitness – Continuing physical development with commitment.

4.      Adventurous Journey – A longer, more challenging expedition 

5.      (3 days 2 nights).

  • Objective: Encourage students to take on greater responsibility, develop perseverance, and demonstrate leadership in team activities.

Gold Award

  • Eligibility: Students who have completed Silver (Class 11 and above).
  • Duration: 18–24 months.
  • Sections:

1.      Voluntary Service / Community Service – Making a significant, long-term contribution.

2.      Skills – Mastering or significantly advancing a chosen skill.

3.      Physical Recreation / Fitness – Committing to sustained fitness goals.

4.      Adventurous Journey – A demanding expedition (4 days 3 nights).

5.      Residential Project – A new experience or project away from home for 5 days, working with new people.

  • Objective: Challenge students to demonstrate maturity, independence, and leadership while making a lasting impact on themselves and the community.
